Cast iron standing horse doorstop by Hubley, #345. Circa 1930s. Unmarked. This horse retains almost all of its original dappled grey painted surface. The figure is well modelled with wonderful detailing of the anatomical features. Excellent condition, some minor wear along the top of the neck and on one side of the horse. This match safe or vesta case is a contemporary copy of a Victorian original. It is very detailed and of heavy weight. The dog's collar hinges open to reveal the matches inside, and there is a striker under the chin. Fully hallmarked for London, 2004. Size: 2 inches length x 1.25 inches depth x 1 inch ht. Excellent original condition, with no damage.
