American document box with folk art inlaid design. Mahogany. Mid 19 century. A ripple edge molding adorns all edges as well as the base of this box. The top and sides are decorated with contrasting light and dark wood inlays, including a compass point and six stars on the lid and a heart and scroll design to the front. Large Federal style giltwood girandole mirror with convex glass, surmounted with a fully figured, carved and ebonized eagle with outstretched wings above an acanthus leaf crest. Early 20th century. Size: 42 inches width x 11 inches depth x 55 inches height. The convex mirror measures 22 inches in diameter and is encircled by bands of gilded balls and ebonized stars, between four girandole electrified candle arms. This mirror is in excellent original condition and has modern wiring.

Early American Chippendale period slant lid desk in maple. New England origin. Late 18th century. Size: 38 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 43 inches height. Writing surface - 31 inches ht. An attractive maple desk with some tiger graining to the slant front. Dovetailed construction visible on top corner joints; high French feet; four graduated drawers with replaced Chippendale style brasses. The interior reveals a combination of five pigeon holes and seven drawers.

The upper section contains an arrangement of nine graduated drawers above a lower case with three drawers, which is supported on a bracket base. Condition: the top cornice is a later replacement as are the brass pulls. Some old chips and roughness to a few drawer edges. Old refinish. Not a marriage. Dimensions: 73 inches height x 40 1/2 inches width x 21 3/8 inches depth.
