Sunset Reflected Over a Marsh by Dennis Sheehan (American, 1950 - present). Oil on linen. Early 2000s. Signed in lower left "Sheehan." Size: 16 inches x 28 inches. This dramatic tonalist painting is typical of Dennis Sheehan's style and subject, capturing the moment when the orb of the setting sun is reflected upon a marshy landscape. Offered in the original silver wood frame. Dennis Sheehan is a contemporary New England painter of landscapes, whose work is inspired by George Inness and other 19th century tonalists. His paintings are in many public and private collections, including The White House. He attended the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass. and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He studied under Robert Cormier and Richard Whitney, and is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists. He currently maintains a studio in Manchester, NH. (Source: American Artist, Oct. 2003).
