Port of Le Havre - Harbor view by Paul Charles Emmanuel Gallard-Lepinay (French, 1842-1885), oil on canvas. Circa 1870-1880. Signed in lower right - E. Gallard-Lepinay. Canvas size: 18 inches x 28.75 inches. This painting depicts shipping in a busy French trade port, probably the harbor of Le Havre. Paul Gallard-Lepinay was a Franch marine painter who is known for his coastal and harbor views of Le Havre, La Rochelle, and Marseille. He studied with Claude Jacquard and was a regular exhibitor in the Paris Salons from 1864-1884. His paintings are in the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and in other museums in France. Condition: some craquelure to the canvas and some old touch up restoration in the sky. Offered in an antique frame.
