| Wassily Kandinsky, after (Russian, 1866-1944) screen print Gris, edition 153/300, circa 1953. Sheet size: 25 inches x 19 inches. Image size: 16 inches x 13.75 inches. Gris was originally produced by Kandinsky in 1931, from the Collection of the artist's widow, Nina Kandinsky. This silkscreen was printed in 1953, in a limited edition of 300 prints, in Paris, at the studio of Wilfredo Arcay, and was issued the same year in the folio, Edition Art D'Aujourd'hui: Maitres de L'Art Abstrait (Art of Today: Masters of Abstract Art), Album I, as number 7 of 16 silkscreen prints. This print is signed in pencil in the lower right margin by the artist's widow, Nina Kandinsky, and bears the artist's monogram and date of 1931 within the image of the plate. Condition: very good, an untrimmed sheet, with tack holes in the corners. Marked on the reverse with an inked stamp of the Public Library, Brookline, Massachusetts, together with the library's catalog number in pencil also on the reverse. This print is offered in new museum standard framing. | ||
