Antoine Blanchard (French, 1910-1988), oil on canvas painting of a Paris street scene, Rue Tronchet with La Madeleine church in the background. Signed lower left. Canvas size: 16"x20". Excellent condition with no repairs and offered in a modern gilt wood frame. Antoine Blanchard is best known for his renderings of Paris street life as it was during the 1890s. His impressionistic pallette is applied using short brushwork, while paying careful attention to the light, reflections and seasons of the street. He studied drawing and painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and is one of the most collected Parisian artists of the 20th century.
