"My Window", original signed etching on paper by Luigi Lucioni (Italian-American, 1900-1988). 1928. Image size: 4.25" x 5.25". A very early detailed engraving by Luigi Lucioni that combines a still life with the view from his studio/apartment overlooking the arch at Washington Square in New York City. This is a scarce image, and this example is in very good condition, with only some slight toning in the upper margin corners. It is signed and dedicated by the artist in pencil in the lower margin and is offered in a dark walnut frame with archival matting. Lucioni was a noted painter and engraver. Born in northern Italy, he immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1911 and settled in N. Bergen, New Jersey. He studied at Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design in New York and exhibited widely at the Penn. Academy of Fine Arts, Corcoran Gallery, Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute and at other fine galleries and institutions. He maintained a studio in Washington Sq. until 1945. He is best known for his realistic detailed still lifes and many landscape etchings.
