Reuben Ward Binks (British, 1880-1950) - English Setter, "Rap", gouache portrait painting, dated 1936. Size: 14 in x 19 in. (sight). Signed and dated by artist in the lower left; titled in lower right. A finely rendered portrait of an English setter, 'Rap' at a stance, with a mixed oak forest in late autumn as a background. Reuben Ward Binks was the leading artist of his day in portraits of dogs. He created dog paintings for several members of the British royal family, including King Edward VII, King George V, King Edward VIII, and King George VI.
