Painted Hollyhocks by Vermont artist Corliss Blakely (American, 20th/21st century). Circa 2001. Oil on canvas. Size: 18 inches x 24 inches. Signed in lower right. Offered in a contemporary plein air gilt wood frame. Excellent condition. Corliss Blakely is a native Vermonter, who is known for her still life, landscape and miniature paintings. She was born in St. Albans and studied at the Vesper George School of Art and at the Museum School of Art in Boston. She paints rustic still life and Vermont landscapes in a realistic style. In this work, she captures tall hollyhocks in front of the facade of a white clapboard farm house, which is illuminated in a dappled light.
