Dennis Sheehan (American, b.1950) - Winter Sunset landscape painting. Oil on canvas. Circa: early 2000s. Size: 9 inches x 14 inches. Signed in lower left. Excellent condition and offered in a carved, gilt wood plein air frame. Dennis Sheehan is a contemporary painter of landscapes whose work is inspired by George Inness and other 19th century tonalists. His paintings are in many public and private collections, including the White House. He attended the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass. and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He studied under Robert Cormier and Richard Whitney and is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists. He currently maintains a gallery in Manchester, NH. (Source: American Artist, Oct. 2003) This dramatic tonalist painting is typical of his style and subject, capturing the yellow glow of a setting sun in a marshy snow covered landscape.
