| Francis F. Jamieson (1893-1950). A dramatic landscape painting of the Scottish highlands showing the Brig 'O Teith, N.B. (North Britain), a stone arched bridge over the River Teith, near the village of Doune in southern Perthshire. The River Teith is renowned for its fishing, and the bridge was constructed by Robert Spittal, a royal tailor, in 1535. Oil on canvas; 16" x 24" canvas size; signed W. Richards, one of at least 11 pseudonyms used by the artist. Titled on the reverse of the canvas & offered in its original frame (refinished). Francis Jamieson was a very prolific British artist who became obsessed with depictions of the Scottish highlands. Condition: excellent, with some minor touch-up restoration, especially along the edges where the canvas rubs on the frame. | ||
