| "Mountain Bridge in Spring, Jackson, New Hampshire" by Roger Deering (American, 1904 - ?) Oil on canvas, 20 x 24 inches, dated 1968 & signed in lower right. A landscape painting of a covered bridge in Jackson, NH, painted in May 1968 by the Maine artist Roger Deering. Signed by the artist in the lower right and also with the artist’s name, title and date on the stretcher, and offered in what is probably the artist’s original frame. Excellent original condition with no restoration or in-painting. Roger Deering was a noted and listed Maine artist, who specialized in marine and landscape subjects. He graduated from the Portland School of Fine Arts and was a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York and the Rockport Art Association. He represented Maine at the 1940 World’s Fair in New York, and his paintings have been exhibited at Grand Central Galleries in NY, Bronxville Public Library, the University of Maine, as well as at many other galleries nationally. He resided in the seaport town of Kennebunkport and is now deceased. | ||
