| Floral still life by Ben Shahn (American, 1898-1969) in watercolor and ink wash on cream wove paper. Signed and dated 1928. Some light foxing to paper. Size: 23.5 inches x 15.25 inches. Ben Shahn was a Lithuanian immigrant who was brought to Brooklyn when he was only eight years old. He studied as a lithographer and photographer before becoming the noted WPA artist, who is best known for his depictions of "social realism" following the Depression. | ||
