| Still life painting of yellow daisies in a green vase by S. George Phillips (American, 1890-1965), oil on canvas, c.1930s. Samuel George Phillips was a member of the impressionist New Hope School of painters. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Daniel Garber, William Merritt Chase and High Breckinridge. He became an illustrator, working for the Saturday Evening Post and McCall's. As a painter, he is best known as a portraitist but also painted landscapes in and around Bucks County, Penn. This attractive floral still life is signed in the lower left S. George Phillips. It is in excellent condition and is offered in a modern frame. Canvas size: 20" x 16". | ||
