| "Lambert's View" Vermont landscape painting by Cecil Vezin Grant (American, 1880-1953), oil on canvas, signed lower right. Circa 1940s. Titled in pencil on the stretcher "Lambert's View" with the original price of $150. Canvas size: 20" x 24". Very good condition, apart form a slight stretcher impression visible along the top edge. CV Grant was born in New Jersey and in the late 1920s purchased a summer home near Londonderry, Vermont. After losing his job and savings during the Wall Street crash of 1929, he moved his family permanently to Vermont and focused his career on his painting. During the depths of the Great Depression he was awarded numerous prizes for his paintings, and he completed over a thousand oil landscapes of Vermont. In his later years, he operated the Manchester Art Gallery in Manchester, VT. | ||
