| A landscape painting with sheep by Sophie Marston Brannan (American, 1877-1960), watercolor/ gouache on paper laid on board. Circa 1910. In this autumnal landscape Brannan depicts sheep grazing in a pasture by a stream. Brannan was a California painter and sculptor, who relocated to New York in 1910 where she exhibited her paintings at the National Academy of Design, the Women's Art Club of New York, the American Watercolor Society, and the New York Watercolor Society. She returned to San Francisco in about 1940, where she remained until her death in 1960. This painting is offered in an antique gilt frame with museum matting. Size: 18" x 24" (image).
