| "Le Canal St. Martin" (Paris), a landscape painting by Arthur Fillon (French, 1900-1974), oil on canvas, dated 1961, signed lower right "Fillon.". A Parisian cityscape of the Canal St. Martin. Old paper label on the verso with artist's name, title, and date. Arthur Fillon studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Marseilles and in Paris. Since 1924, he exhibited at the Salon D'Automne and the Salon des Independants. He was born in Loris but moved to Paris where he died in 1974. Fillon is known for his views of the Seine flowing through Paris. Excellent original condition, with some craquelure to the painted surface but no paint loss. Offered framed; however the frame exhibits some loss of the gesso finish. Canvas size: 25 1/2" x 31 7/8". | ||
