| Early spring - Pleasant Valley, Mount Mansfield, VT, oil on canvas landscape painting by listed artist Chas. Curtis Allen (American, 1886-1950). Signed and dated 1940 and offered in what is probably the original carved and gilded Arts and Crafts frame, with title on gallery label on reverse of The Grand Central Art Galleries, Inc., New York City. Condition is excellent. Canvas size: 20 inches x 25 inches. Allen was a Massachusetts artist who studied at the Worcester Museum of Art School under Philip Hale, Hermann Dudley Murphy and Henry Rice and was an Associate member of the National Academy of Design, as well as the National Academy and Salmagundi Club in NYC. | ||
