William Dean Fausett (American, 1913-1998) large size panoramic landscape painting in the region of the Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, Vermont. Oil on canvas. Circa 1940s. Canvas size: 22 inches x 68 inches. Signed in lower right. Never before on the market. Nice original condition. William Dean Fausett was a portrait and landscape painter who spent the latter years of his life in Dorset, Vermont. He painted portraits of notable personages, including presidents Eisenhower and Reagan, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Grandma Moses, and Hoagy Carmichael. He moved to Vermont after WWII and became a founding member of the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. His career as an artist spanned more than six decades and included large mural depictions of battles in the American Civil War, and he is also known for his landscapes of the American West. This realistic painting of a valley in Manchester, Vermont, is stylistically reminiscent of paintings by a contemporary Vermont painter and etcher, Luigi Lucioni, who also depicted the landscape around Manchester, VT.
