A scarce French art pottery small size vase by BACS, founded by Jean Barol (1873-1966). Circa 1913-1927. Size: 6 inches ht. Excellent condition. Painted with an impressionistic landscape in slightly raised metallic glazes. Impressed 'BACS' near base, and impressed on the underside BACS Cannes-Eden, Cote d'Azur. No chips or damage. Jean Barol founded the BACS pottery studio in about 1913, together with three other potters: Marius Alexandre, Jean Carle, and Francois Sicard. The first letters of the four potters surnames were incorporated into the firm's stamp - BACS. The firm was known for the use of metallic glazes which make their wares distinctive in appearance.
