Dennis Sheehan (American, 1950 - present) painting of Sunset Afterglow Over a Marsh, oil on linen, 24 inches x 30 inches. Unsigned but acquired directly from the artist. This large, tonalist canvas captures the dramatic red afterglow of a sunset over a marshy landscape. Offered in a contemporary gilt wood plein air frame. Excellent condition. Dennis Sheehan is a contemporary painter of landscapes whose work is inspired by George Inness and other 19th century tonalists. His paintings are in many public and private collections, including the White House. He attended the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Mass. and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He studied under Robert Cormier and Richard Whitney and is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists. (Source: American Artist, Oct. 2003)
