Arts & Crafts Gothic revival bishop's throne chair, oak, early 20th century. Size: 70 inches ht. x 25 inches width x 21 inches depth. An impressive throne chair or bishop's chair fashioned in the English Gothic Revival style. This chair is adorned with carved oak spires, linen fold panelling, Gothic arches with pillars, heraldic shields and tendrils of foliage. The hinged seat reveals a storage compartment below. Family history states that the chair was a gift from Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, where it was removed from the choir stalls. Nice condition, with later bracing to the underside of the hinged seat and replaced hinges.
