Original Charles Dickens autograph, hand-penned by the most popular English novelist of the Victorian era to Charles Augustus Cole, and dated Monday, 12th November 1860, written on stationery of "Office of All the Year Round, A Weekly Journal Conducted by Charles Dickens." Size: approx. 6 inches x 4.75 inches (sight). Offered framed together with an engraved portrait of Charles Dickens. The note reads: "My Dear Cole, I regret to be obliged to reply that I cannot possibly do it. I am much too busily occupied just now, to be able to go beyond the things on which my thoughts are set. Deliver me. Always faithfully yours, Charles Dickens. Charles A. Cole, Esquire" Office of All the Year Round was a Victorian weekly literary magazine that was founded and owned by Dickens, published between 1859 and 1895, being the successor to his previous publication, 'Household Words.' Charles Augustus Cole was a Public Record clerk, as well as a writer, and he submitted material for publication in "All The Year Round." Condition is very good, with old fold creases to the sheet; signature is strong and legible with his characteristic flourish below.
