Floral still life by Ben Shahn (American, 1898-1969) in watercolor and ink wash on cream wove paper. Signed and dated 1928. Some light foxing to paper. Size: 23.5 inches x 15.25 inches. Ben Shahn was a Lithuanian immigrant who was brought to Brooklyn when he was only eight years old. He studied as a lithographer and photographer before becoming the noted WPA artist, who is best known for his depictions of "social realism" following the Depression.

"Deserted Station" watercolor painting by Frederick Clay Bartlett, Jr. (American, 1907-1955). Signed lower right and dated Sept. 1942. Clay Bartlett was a Vermont artist with a residence in Manchester, VT. He was a member of the Southern Vermont Artists from 1934-1951. This painting depicts an abandoned railway station with its shutters closed and with a stationary train on the adjacent tracks. Size: 13" x 19" (sight). Excellent condition.
